(approx 200 miles)
The M4 from London; the M6 from the North West and the M1/M42 from the North East – all link up with the M5 to take you to South to Devon and the West Country. From M5, take Junction 31 signposted A30 Okehampton. Stay on the A30 for approximately 16 miles exiting at Whiddon Down and the junction signposted Moretonhampstead, A382. Continue through roundabout and after about three miles, turn right for Chagford. Entering the village you will come to the main square. Mill Street is the right turn. Take any space in the street outside. You can also use the car park. This is about 400m away at the other end of Mill Street.

From Exeter

From Plymouth
(approx 40 miles)
Join the A382, from the A38 near Newton Abbott. At Easton Cross take the left hand turn marked for Chagford. Entering the village you will come to the main square. Mill Street is the right turn. Parking in the evening is easy. Take any space in the street outside. But during the day you should use the car park. This is about 400m away off the High Street. When you enter the Square turn left, rather than right, into the High Street and the car park is a short way down on the left.

By Train
First Great Western run hourly services out of London Paddington to Exeter St Davids taking just over two hours.
The H1 and H2 buses leave the forecourt of Exeter St. Davids train station every 15 minutes, arriving at the central bus station 12 minutes later. A taxi from Exeter St. Davids to the bus station costs £5. There is a Stagecoach bus 173 that leaves from Exeter central bus station arriving into Chagford approximately one hour later.

A fabulous short stay
Staying only for one night on a Late Rooms deal we were made to feel both so welcome and so comfortable. The Manager is extremely attentive and settled us quickly into this very homely yet stylish restaurant/hotel.
There are only two bedrooms and we were the only guests but the rooms are plush and contemporary. The decor throughout exudes class and 22 Mill Street clearly does very well on the food...it was too rich for us (£36 for two courses) but if you're planning something special then No.22 would be ideal. My wife and I are going back in August to stay there and also at the sister hotel, Brown's in Tavistock, on a deal organised through them. Brown's is larger and cater's for accommodation far more than Mill Street. The breakfast although very nice, could be more varied. Museli only on the continental option and as others' have stated £12 for a full English is crazy...sometimes you can get ahead of yourself where breakfast is concerned, Tetley tea and Frosties needs to be an option too! Our Late Rooms deal was £69 including the continental breakfast so be aware the prices do vary and I'm sure if you rang direct No.22 would be able to price match.
A fabulous short stay in superb surroundings, the village is quaint with some great pubs (four? to be exact within two minutes walk from No.22) and an ideal romantic get-away. The parking isn't good (on the road outside) but we managed to park easily. As I've said we're already booked to go back in August-I suppose that's recommendation enough...
